Use an Image to Start a Design Project

Turn any photo into the starting point for your next graphic design project. Instead of beginning with a template or blank canvas, you can start a design from an image. Open your image in the Graphic Designer and customize it with text, graphics, and additional photos. This is a great way to create image-focused designs, unique backgrounds, collages, flyers, invitations, wall art, and more.

Step 1: Open your photo in the Graphic Designer. Use the Open menu and select Image under New Design. The image will serve as the background of your design.

Pro Tip: You can also start a new project by selecting an image from the Image Manager. Select the image thumbnail, then select Start New Project.

Step 2 (Optional): Resize your canvas as needed.

Step 3: Add additional design elements to your project.

  • Text: To add text to your design, select the Text icon. Then, select Add Text and start typing to open the Text Properties panel for more customization options.
  • Graphics: To add graphics to your design, select the Graphics tab and search BeFunky’s collection of graphics. You can also add your own graphics by selecting Computer from the Image Manager.
  • Images: Add and edit additional image layers to build out your design.

Step 4: Continue adding to and editing your project until your design is complete.

Step 5: When you’re finished, be sure to save your project.
