Hi, I have been using befunky for a bit now and decided to get a plus account.

I am very happy and like your site very much.

My only probleme is that before I had a plus account user, the underpainting was giving an effect I really liked.  Now I can't get it anymore, it is much smoother.  It is also very nice but I would like to be able to get my first effect back.  I only see one way which is not sign in to get it but then I have the watermark... Can you help.  I have attached 2 pictures to explain myself.

Thank you very much

Anne-Marie

Hi Anne-Marie,

Glad you liked BeFunky.

If you zoom-in 100% and look closer to the large image, you can see the brush strokes. A large image looks realistic from a distance but you understand that it's a painting when you come closer. That's because there are lots of small details that can be painted, which are not available in a smaller image.

If you'd prefer the less-realistic effect anyway, you'll need to apply it to a smaller version of the photo. You can simply do that by resizing your photo.

  • Click on the Edit menu and choose Resize from the left menu.
  • Adjust the longer side of your photo to somewhere between 800 - 1000 pixels.
  • Click on the Apply button to complete resizing your photo.

Now any effect you choose will be applied to a smaller version of the original photo.

P.S. Now you can use BeFunky in French. Just change the language at the top menu.

Here is a workaround to make your large Underpainting images look similar to the smaller ones.

  1. Resize your large image to something around 800-1000 pixels for the longer side. You can do this with the Edit->Resize tool.
  2. Apply Underpainting #1 as usual.
  3.  Go back to the Resize tool and bring the image back to its original size.
  4.  It may seem good but in most cases you’ll see distortions on the image when you zoom in 100%.
  5. To smooth these out apply Underpainting #2 with the Brush Detail slider set to its minimum value.
  6. You can also get impressive results by increasing Brush Detail value of Underpainting #2.

I had a similar question. Before I upgraded, I had the option for Unerpainting #3 and now I no longer have it. I the exact option that I was given before I upraded becuase that is why I signed up. I just feel that it does not make sense to give us these options and then loose once we join. If possible, I would like the same effect and not "similar" effect. Kind of feel I got suckered into joining even though you have many other cool features. Please advise. My photo was for an anniversary gift that I needed by tomorrow :(

Hello Nerinac,

I think there is a misunderstanding here. The Underpainting #3 below the Featured effects is the same as the Underpainting #2. We have to name it differently for technical purposes. And even you are a free or premium user we have only 2 Underpainting filter. Hope that helps... Also please reach me from contact@befunky.com for urgent needs.

Hello, I would like to be able to erase  certain things in a picture and delete it all together, is there a way  to do that?
